Joe D'Arrigo

Executive Director of the Clergy Benefit Trust

Joe brings 45 years of experience in the benefits business to the Archdiocese. His business experience includes developing two successful benefits consulting companies and acting as strategic advisor to a number of other firms. Joe has shared his entrepreneurial approach in the nonprofit world. Over the course of his career he has served on the Boards of a number of charitable organizations, including Catholic Charities, where he chaired the task force for developing a strategic plan that continues to be of value in their ongoing operations. Today he sits on the Board of the Boys and Girls Club of Dorchester and the Ron Burton Training Village. Joe’s primary focus has been to stabilize the Clergy Funds, to restore the strength of the Funds, and to assure that the priests of the diocese will be provided for today and in the future.

Maria Sullivan

Director of Operations

Maria was the first employee hired for the Clergy Funds Office in October of 2008. She managed the business offices of organizations in various industries; brings extensive experience streamlining organizations with new initiatives, as well as implementing new processes and procedures. Maria works with multiple departments within the Archdiocese; parishes and priests; as well a the Clergy Funds Board of Trustees and their respective committees; and is responsible for managing the ongoing projects/initiatives of the Clergy Funds Team.

Joan Smith

Clergy Benefits Coordinator

Joan joined the Clergy Funds staff in June of 2009 and comes to us with over 20 years of experience as a Benefits Specialist. She also has over 25 years of service in the United States Army Reserve. Joan was awarded 2 US Army Achievement Medals & a Global War on Terrorism Medal. Joan is responsible for coordinating health and retirement benefits for all active and senior priests.

Mary Hanlon, RN

Health Care Coordinator

Mary, formerly the Director of Nursing at Regina Cleri, joined the Clergy Funds staff as Health Care Coordinator in October of 2009. Mary has over 10 years experience with the Regina Cleri residents and understands our priests and their health care needs well. Mary has created the healthy lifestyle program specific to our priests and is committed to helping our priests stay healthy through prevention, education, and outreach.
Maryellen Barrett

Maryellen Barrett

Director of Finance

Maryellen joined the Clergy Funds staff in April of 2011 from the RCAB Finance Department where she spent the majority of her time supporting Clergy Funds since 2008. Maryellen brings over 25 years of experience as a financial manager for various public and private organizations and serves on the Finance Council of her parish. Maryellen is responsible for managing all financial aspects of the Trusts, working closely with the Board of Trustees and other committees to provide insight to all financial matters.
